Nick Sun

Nick Sun emerged from the suburbs of Sydney during 2004; he quickly became one of the countries hottest comedy prospects.

Nick spent 2003 and the early part of 2004 working the Open Mic circuit of Sydney’s tough comedy rooms, as well as at Sydney’s premium venue, The Comedy Store.

In early 2004 Nick decided to enter the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s new talent competition “Raw Comedy”. He proceeded to cruise through the Heats, Semi Final and take out the State Final for New South Wales. From there he was selected to contest the National Final in Melbourne which he went on to win convincingly.

He went on to perform at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and entered the UK’s top comedy competition “So You Think You’re Funny”. Amazingly he took on the best the UK had to offer and went on to become the national champion of that event as well. This resulted in a unique double for Nick winning both Australian and UK’s top comedy competitions in the same year – a feat not before achieved.

The balance of 2004 saw Nick honing his stand-up in the London comedy scene and visiting USA to try his hand there as well. In 2005 Nick performed at Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 3 different shows, building a huge amount of stage time that has resulted in him becoming a sought after professional act in Australia. He also performed at the “Just For Laughs” Comedy Festival at Montreal and returned to the UK for a full season of shows at Edinburgh, while his 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival show “Blood on the Yolks in the Key of Owls” was awarded the Director’s Choice award.
