Sam Bowden

Sam Bowden is a writer, actor and comedian who’s been plying his trade both here and in the UK since 2012.

Having worked alongside the biggest names in comedy and opened for the likes of Danny Bhoy, Brian Posehn and Lawrence Mooney, Sam has taken shows to nearly every major arts festival in the country.

His debut solo hour The Epicurean Shark enjoyed a sell-out weekend at the Wonderland Festival in 2018 at the Brisbane Powerhouse, after which he was invited back to perform as part of the Brisbane Comedy Festival showcase and Queerstories. In 2019 he opened the MELT Queer Comedy Gala alongside the likes of Rhys Nicholson and Demi Lardner.

After a stellar 2019 which saw him also appear on ABC’s Utopia, Sam now resides in Sydney where he’s a staple of the Sydney comedy scene, performing regularly at the iconic Giant Dwarf Theatre and The Comedy Store. Sam debuted his hour “DandyLion” at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2022 with great success.

Not just a performer, he works as a writer helping production companies punch up their projects and secure funding. He recently helped secure ScreenQLD funding for web series APPS, and worked alongside K29 Studios on an unreleased project for Snap Originals.

Alongside writing partner Steph Tisdell and Kylie Sparrow, Sam is building a new dramedy series exploring lateral violence and modern colonialism in remote Australian communities, with the project entering pre-production in 2022. Come see him do the world’s best job at comedy.
