Suraj Kolarkar

Suraj Kolarkar is a sharp, engaging stand-up comedian and actor with a knack for finding the funny in the awkward, absurd and wonderfully ridiculous parts of everyday life.

Born in India and raised in Brisbane, Suraj brings a unique outsider-insider perspective to the stage, mixing clever observations, personal stories, cultural commentary and a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour. His relaxed delivery and confident storytelling have made him a popular performer with audiences across Australia.

Suraj was the Runner-Up at the RAW Comedy 2019 National Grand Final, with his performance broadcast nationally on SBS. He has since built an impressive television and entertainment resume, appearing alongside Melissa McCarthy in Netflix’s God’s Favourite Idiot and with Charlie Hunnam in Apple TV/Paramount’s Shantaram. He has also appeared on SBS and hosted the popular SBS podcast My First Year in Australia, exploring the hilarious highs, lows and cultural quirks of finding your feet Down Under.

From Melbourne Town Hall to performing stand-up aboard a moving train for Triple M, Suraj has taken his comedy well beyond the traditional club stage. He is equally at home entertaining a packed comedy room, hosting a major event or finding the funny in a corporate crowd.
