Karunesh Talwar – Live in Brisbane

Karunesh Talwar is a stand-up comedian from Mumbai, India and is one of India’s most experienced and widely viewed comedians on YouTube since 2016 with over 26.2 million views and 400,000 subscribers. In 2018, he was invited to the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival where he featured as part of Comedy Zone Asia and on ABC TV’s Comedy Up Late. Also, later that year Karunesh was invited to perform at the world famous Soho Theatre in London along with fellow Indian Comic, Sumit Anand where they played to full houses and garnered rave reviews. With two specials under his belt already, Karunesh is currently working on his third one. He has also been a comedy writer for the last eight years, having written for many brands like Hotstar, HDFC, Redbull and Bollywood and TV award shows such as IIFA and Filmfare to name a few. He has also written for Vir Das’ comedy collective Weirdass Comedy early on in his career and written and performed alongside All India Bakchod, on some of their popular sketches including “Every Bollywood Party Song” with actor Irrfan Khan and season 1 of their Hotstar show “On Air with AIB”.

In this show, Karunesh explores what it’s like to deal with responsibilities of being in his late twenties, especially because he hasn’t actually grown up yet. He doesn’t have a college degree, never had a real job and his only real skill is to be a professional complainer. He tells stories from his childhood, from when he was in college, from last week and also from this morning. They all have one thing in common – in every one of them, he embarrasses himself. Also if laziness was a sport, Karunesh wouldn’t participate. He talks about how his whole life is geared around doing as little work as humanly possible.
