What is The Golden Gavel?
The Golden Gavel is a competition where competitors showcase their advocacy and comedy skills, delivering hilarious 3–5 minute speeches on far-fetched legal topics.
Each state and territory hosts its own Golden Gavel, with the winners advancing to compete at the National Golden Gavel.
It’s not just about taking home the trophy — the Golden Gavel gives young lawyers an opportunity to put their public speaking, advocacy and communication skills to the test, with a healthy dose of comedy thrown in.
Watch Queensland’s sharpest legal minds trade the courtroom for the comedy spotlight as they battle it out for the prestigious title of Queensland’s Funniest Lawyer; with the winner going on to represent Queensland at the National Golden Gavel in November!
