Hosted by the brilliantly funny Jarryd Goundrey, a former soldier turned professional comedian, this show blends raw honesty with quick wit for an unforgettable evening that’ll have you laughing, cheering, and maybe even tearing up (from laughter, of course).

This isn’t your average comedy night — it’s a showcase of real stories from those who’ve served, told through the sharp, surprising lens of stand-up comedy. A line-up of amateur veteran comedians will step up to the mic, bringing their own unique perspectives and punchlines to the stage. Each performer will deliver a short set before our panel of judges weighs in with feedback and selects standout acts of the night. Expect energy, courage, and more than a few belly laughs as these incredible storytellers prove that humour can be the best form of healing — and connection.

The purpose behind the mayhem is as inspiring as the performances themselves. Mess Hall Mayhem aims to support and spotlight veterans who are exploring new creative careers, while building community through shared experiences and laughter. It’s also a chance to raise awareness of the ongoing work of Defence in Business, helping connect veterans, defence families, and supporters across Australia.

And because no great night is complete without a little extra cheer, all tickets include a drink voucher and light food — the perfect pairing for an evening of top-tier laughs and good company.
